In this series we are going to make a melodic dubstep drop from scratch. Starting with our piano chords, working our way into synthesis and doing the final mix, you and I are going to create a powerful and massive melodic drop together. From creating leads to making our own bass fills, this is the perfect starting guide for anyone learning melodic bass production.
Video 1 - Writing Chords
In our first lesson we are going to write an emotional yet moving chord progression for our tune. We are going to start at the basics, and build this progression out together to make something that provokes tons of emotion.
Video 2 - Synthesizing our Chords
We are going to start bringing our progression to life in our second lesson by turning them into supersaws. Getting our fundamental mid range range down as well as discussing phasing will be included in this episode.
Video 3 - Creating Leads
In our third lesson we are going to start giving our drop a unique sound by adding our leads. We are going to check out when and when not to use certain presets, as well as how to bring the most atmosphere possible into our drop.
Video 4 - Introducing Bass
Our fourth lesson is all about grit, as we dive into our sub bass and our chord bass. In this lesson we discuss how to create chunky yet clean mid basses, low and powerful sub bass, and how to mix your low end properly with our kicks.
Video 5 - Creating our Drums
Our fifth lesson is focused on groove and rhythm as we start to create our drums. From choosing the right kick and snare, to the right hi-hat patterns & correct side-chain ratios, we are going to start really see this drop come together.
Video 6 - Making Fills
Our sixth lesson is all about making fills. Now that we have our main idea, it’s time to get creative with our sounds in between the chords. Making growl basses and resampling drum effects are just a couple of-my favorite tricks i will share with you.
Video 7 - Final Touches
Our seventh lesson is focused on our final touches. This episode is the icing on the cake before we head into our final mix down session. We will be focusing on pleasing frequencies, as well as adding new and powerful additions to our drop.
Video 8 - The Final Mix
Our eight and final episode is our final mix. In this episode I am going to show you how to properly mix down your melodic dubstep drop, giving everything its own space. As we finish our series, you will be sitting with a melodic dubstep drop that is master ready.
