Video 1 – Kick

Dan reshapes an existing kick sample inside Serum2 to achieve a harder, more modern hard techno punch. By adjusting the pitch envelope, transient response, and overall tonal balance, he tightens the low-end while adding extra impact and aggression. The result is a powerful, controlled kick that cuts cleanly through the mix and provides a solid foundation for the entire track.

Video 2 – Bass

A twisted techno bass is built from scratch in Serum2, with Dan focusing on raw aggression, movement, and tight low-end control. He shapes the sound to work closely with the kick while maintaining enough character to stand out on its own. The final bass delivers a relentless sense of drive that constantly pushes the track forward.

Video 3 – Bass Layer

Dan takes a percussion loop and creatively processes and filters it into a moving texture that sits above the main bass. By transforming a simple rhythmic element into an additional tonal layer, he adds extra depth, motion, and groove without overcrowding the low-end. This subtle layer helps make the bass section feel larger, more detailed, and more alive.

Video 4 – Tops Loop

Using only carefully selected one-shot samples instead of relying on pre-made loops, Dan constructs the entire top-end rhythmic foundation from the ground up. He demonstrates how individual percussion elements can be positioned and layered to create the right groove, swing, and momentum. This approach gives complete control over the rhythm and makes it easier to shape the energy around the rest of the track.

Video 5 – Synth

Dan designs a powerful synth theme in Serum2 that complements the dark and aggressive atmosphere of the production. He focuses on creating a distinctive sound with enough presence to cut through the dense drums and bass while still fitting naturally into the mix. The resulting synth becomes a key musical element that adds identity, tension, and forward movement to the arrangement.

Video 6 – Tops 2

Dan expands the top-end percussion by layering additional hi-hats and rhythmic one-shots to increase density, movement, and excitement. He carefully builds on the existing groove without making the section feel overcrowded, then introduces a supporting loop layer to add extra texture and momentum. Together, these elements complete the high-energy, club-ready feel of the drums and help push the production toward a finished hard techno sound.
