Illenium Style Track

In this course we are going to learn how to make a track in a similiar style as Illenium & The Chainsmokers' recent collaboration; "Takeaway". While both popular in their own rights, Illenium and The Chainsmokers joined forces on a song that combines both of their iconic styles flawlessly. In this course we're going to teach you how you can achieve that sound for yourself.

Video 1 - Writing Chords, Melody, Baseline

Our first part is all about writing chords, a melody, and a bassline that is similar to something you might find in a classic Illenium Song.

Video 2 - Picking Sounds

In this part we go over what sounds we picked for each musical element, we use mostly Serum, as well as 3xosc.

Video 3 - The Drop

The third part has us filling out the drop section of our template that we started the song with, and fine tuning it to go with the chords, melody, and bassline we wrote.

Video 4 - Breakdown & Build

In this part we go over the breakdown/build part of our template, and see how we can best incorporate our melodic elements into that, as to give a good lead in to our drop.

Video 5 - Full Song Arrangement

In our final part, we arrange all our pieces into a complete track, and we go over what mindset to have while turning an idea into a full track.
